This month's recipe is the versatile Lemon Butter.
This easy and quick recipe was my grandmother's recipe. Her name was Dulcie, and she was born on the 17th of Nov 1901.
The butter can be used with so many delicious treats. I usually make this for my lemon cheesecake that I bake every year for my Mums birthday, and you just put it all over the top and it sets just right to be able to slice and not losing it all down the sides of the cake. It is also really delicious just on toast.
My favourite memory is with my grandma making little shortcrust pastry cases and once cool, put in a teaspoon or two of the lemon butter in and enjoy.
Art Journal Prompt
This month's prompt is all about working through hard or difficult times by doing some little things that can lighten your mood throughout the day.
Instructions: Ask yourself these questions and write them down.
Step 1
What makes you happy?
God, Family, Painting, Grandbabies, baking, chocolate, cups of tea, etc (write down on a piece of paper what makes you happy)
How can you improve your mood?
Phoning a friend, reading my Bible, baking cookies, exercise, walk in the sunshine, positive self-talk, etc (write what are the things that improve your mood)
Step 2
Evaluate what you have written, and which ones stand out the most.
Draw or paint your cake and break into slices, write what makes you happy on top of each slice, you can make these slices bigger or smaller depending upon there significance.
Draw or paint in the layered icing and write on each layer the things that you can do to improve your mood.
Have fun and get creative with your drawing or painting, using colours and different marks to make your painting fun and vibrant and when you have created your artwork, blue tack it somewhere that you can look at often as a fun and gentle reminder, when your mood isn't quite as good as it could be.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Sketchbook or Journal or a large piece of cardboard: For the journal, choose one with thick, sturdy pages that can withstand various mediums. Something between 200 - 300 gsm is good.
