On a trip to the Walka Water Works in Maitland, NSW, we came across so many interesting buildings and this was sketched on site and then later incised onto a metal plate for later printing.  The water works was completed in 1885 and was part of the first safe water supply scheme for Newcastle. The technique used for this print is called Intaglio and its a technique in which the image is produced by incising into the printing plate – the incised line or area holds the ink and creates the image, which is then placed on paper and rolled through a printing press.
